The Surprising Resource I’m Glad We Used

February 9, 2015 by Melissa Kruger

Prior to the birth of our second child, I worked for a year as our church’s Children’s Ministry Director. One of the personal benefits was learning about a variety of different curriculums, parenting books, children’s books, music CDs, and other resources that were useful to me as a new mom. To my surprise, one of the resources that has […]

Why Am I so Cold Spiritually?

January 27, 2015 by Melissa Kruger

My son sat at the breakfast table shivering in his seat. With a pained expression he glanced up at my husband and me and exclaimed through chattering teeth, “I’m so cold!” My husband’s initial response was to turn up the heat, but as he looked at the table he noticed my son’s sweatshirt sitting right in front […]

When a Book Becomes Real

January 20, 2015 by Melissa Kruger

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse.  “You become. It takes a long time…Generally by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby.” – The Velveteen Rabbit When I think about my […]

A Creative (and Fun) Idea for Family Prayer

January 8, 2015 by Melissa Kruger

December is my favorite mail month of the year. I’m always relieved to find Amazon packages waiting on my front stoop, mercifully keeping me out of the stores for additional holiday shopping. Christmas cards replace the usual junk mail and bills, making the trip to the mailbox a bit more exciting each day. These cards […]

The Ministry That Makes all the Difference

November 4, 2014 by Melissa Kruger

It’s the fourth Monday of the month, and there’s a meeting I’m trying to avoid. On these Mondays, our women’s care team meets. We do not argue over events to plan or struggle with infighting or frustration over what Bible study to teach. Instead, we come together and pray. We are not wrestling with one […]

Just got this special delivery from my favorite professor!🎉🎉🎉
Best kind of Friday evening.💛
As news broke last week about Ravi Zacharias’s spiritual and sexual abuse of women, I read the various accounts with profound sadness for those most directly affected by his misconduct. The betrayal, loneliness, fear, and shame women experienced because of his sinful actions are in complete opposition to the tender shepherding care Jesus extended to women. Jesus bound up wounds, Zacharias inflicted them.
Today, I interview my good friend and fellow TGC editor @quina_aragon about her new children’s book, Love Gave: A Story of God’s Greatest Gift. I absolutely loved Quina’s first book, Love Made, and this new book is its poetic and powerful continuation. Love Gave releases on February 2nd, but you can pre-order it today and receive a free audio download of Quina beautifully performing the book at LoveGaveBook.com!
Contentment is a spiritual battle won only by God’s strength in us, not a different set of circumstances.
My friend @vaneetharisner ‘s book is coming out next week! 🎉
My favorite thing my husband gave me for Christmas is a new journal from @growleyleather and a day to go and spend time by myself—to rest, reflect, and be still (swipe to the end to see the new journal…I love it!).
The most wonderful message the world has ever heard! 🕊
Thankful to have everyone home.💛🎄🏡
